We need to start somewhere, so let’s start here.
I have seen so many posts on the internet about starting businesses, because a business seems to be a good way to make money.
There are some faiths that use business as something a little more spiritual, for example Jewish people conduct business according to Halakha, where a person transforms a mundane act of commerce, into a spiritual act.
So we can discuss this at some point, but in the meantime we can assume that although money is useful, indeed I spent some of it on getting a coffee this morning, it’s not a very good example of what should be our focus this life. Perhaps a more useful focus is to figure out who we are and why live in this realm, so that we can do something useful while we are here.
Something useful for people around us, something useful for ourselves.
Perhaps this could be the purpose of us being here in the first place.
So to begin I would recommend this video because it shows how someone prepared for their voyage on a ship. It’s an old video, which gives it a little gravitas, but it is a fine example of how to prepare for a voyage and how to act when we are there.
It’s all a metaphor for life, because no matter what we do with our existence on this gorgeous little blue green planet of ours, we will need to make some form of journey from beginning to middle to the end, so let’s call it a ship for now and set sail.
